Jeff Torres - Director, Interpreter Training Group 

The Interpreter Training Group was formed in 2011 by Mr. Jeff Torres  who continues to provide quality Interpreter compliance training and continuing education to California state certified Interpreters as well as interpreters certified in many other states. 

As a prior full time law enforcement professional with over 30 years of experience, supervision and training and as a current instructor at the College of Sequoias - Tulare -Kings Police Academy, Mr. Jeff Torres brings many years of comprehensive experience as an educator, investigator and supervisor in many high-level felony investigations which include, Homicide, Robbery, Narcotics, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Death Investigation to name a few. Mr. Torres’ knowledge of criminal justice investigative processes and procedures brings to the language professional many years of  industry specific terminology and procedure-based knowledge from both the “field” and justice system perspective. 

As part of Mr. Torres' resume, he was assigned to supervise the daily law enforcement operations at a California Superior Court where he oversaw all aspects of courtroom and court facility security and law enforcement  operations. His daily interaction with court proceedings, interpreters, court officers, court administration, court assigned deputies and the general public provided him a unique global     perspective into the daily operations of the judicial system and those who work within.   

Mr. Torres strives to provide the highest quality training to spoken language interpreters and language professionals. With “real-time” information on current topics, he brings to the student many years of experience in both the law enforcement and judicial system, and on a variety of topics that are relevant to the professional interpreter.  ITG training sessions and webinars are always conducted in a professional and interactive manner via computer presentations, videos, “hands-on” displays, take-home media, and role-playing scenarios. Furthermore, all continuing education classes offered by the Interpreter Training Group are approved and certified for Interpreter compliance required by the Judicial Council of California (CA CIMCE).
